2nd Annual Mahone Bay Opener

If you have a sailboat, you’re invited to race!

The Chester Yacht Club is kicking the doors open for our Two Day Racing Event to encourage sailors curious about racing — or folks who used to race and are thinking about coming out to uncoil the main sheet and call the crew. You will be met with a hearty welcome from our seasoned CYC racers and are guaranteed some fun and friendly competition.

Do I need to be a member of CYC or any other Yacht Club?

• No, you can enter this one-day event as long as you complete registration, upload your insurance documents and PHRF certificate — then digitally sign the Disclaimer of Liability.
• If you do not have a valid Sail Nova Scotia handicap, you can obtain one by filling out and submitting this online form.
• If you have a Sail Nova Scotia handicap, you must review it to ensure all the information it is based on is accurate and current.

Why is CYC doing this?

• We want to encourage growth in the racing fleet in the Mahone Bay area. We understand that Chester Race Week may be too big of a commitment for some racers and we wanted to lower the barrier to participating in handicap racing.

What will the racing be like?

• Final details are still in progress.  Plans are to have A Fleet, B Fleet, and White Sails starts on a distance course. Racing will be approximately 2.5 hours.

Is there a fee?

• Nope! The best things in life are free!
