Message from Rear Commodore Randy Stevens: Chester Yacht Club will be represented at Boston Yacht Club, New York Yacht Club and Edgartown Yacht Club Events This Season.

My crew and I will be away from June 22 to July 13 on Ceilidh’s 2011 Adventure retracing her roots from the 70’s. It will be quite an adventure!! We sail to Gloucester, Ma to clear customs and then off to Provincetown, Ma, through the Cape Cod Canal to Newport, as a guest of the New York Yacht Club and the start of the Transatlantic Race. Then it’s off to Mystic Seaport for a few days. Then Block Island and back to Edgartown Yacht Club in Martha’s Vineyard for the Round the Island Race July 9th.”Ceilidh” being the only Canadian Yacht will be racing with Chester Race Week’s Overall Race Winner for 2009 “Pugwash” Skippered by David Murphy from the Edgartown Yacht Club.

Ceilidh will sail from Edgartown, July 10, the same day as the start of the Marblehead to Halifax Race and catch up with the fleet somewhere in the Gulf of Maine.

On behalf of all CYC members I would like to pass along our best wishes to our two Chester Yacht Club entrants, Bob Cragg on his very fast and well sailed yacht “Agincourt” and Reg Goodday equally fast and well sailed yacht” Akubra” .  If you go to the Marblehead to Halifax Race site you will be able to follow the racers progress from start to finish.

The IOD worlds are now being sailed in Marblehead June 11 to 17; the results will be published shortly for the benefit of our members and as a show of support to CYC’s world class IOD fleet.

Our woman’s learn to sail begins this Sunday with much nicer weather forecasted.  If you haven’t already registered, please do, you will enjoy yourself.

As a reminder to CYC members sailing to Halifax, CYC has mooring privileges at Armdale Yacht Club, as they do here at Chester.

Great sailing and fair winds.

Randy Stevens

Rear Commodore
