The Chester Yacht Club will be holding Women’s Sailing Seminar that is open for members and non-members.  We will be offering an Advanced Sailing Course along with the Basic Sailing Course.  The classes will be held over 4 and half nights at the Chester Yacht Club. If you were in the course last year you are welcome to take the Basic Sailing Course again.  If you have the basic skill and want to learn more you can take the Advanced Sailing Course without taking Basic Sailing Course.   Look at the descriptions below to find out which course best fits you. The Friday night of the week is awards and social night at Chester Yacht Club.  Registration Form attached.

 

Basic Sailing Course

 

This course is geared towards teaching the basics of sailing to women.   There will be on the water experience as well as class lessons.  The course focuses on sailing terminology, knots, right of way rules and weather.  On the water you will become familiar with sailing by being crew on a sail boat.  You will have a turn at crewing and skippering the boat.  You will learn how to sail a boat up wind, do a man overboard drill and moor a boat.  You will have an opportunity to sail on different boats and meet new friends.

 

Advanced Course

 

This course is geared towards teaching advance sailing skills to women.  There will be on the water experience as well as class Lessons.  The course focuses on how to trim the sail using the sail controls.  You will also learn the basics of how to fly a spinnaker.

 

Courses Dates        June 24 – 28 + Social night on Friday June 29

 

Starts on Sunday 24, 7:00 – 9:00pm

 

Following nights 6:00 – 9:30pm
